Eintracht Frankfurt face-off against West Ham on Thursday
A West Ham supporter was taken to hospital after a group of Hammers fans were attacked by what witnesses claim were a set of Eintracht Frankfurt ultras, German police have confirmed.
As reported by the Evening Standard, two vans stopped outside a pub in the Hesse city – where a group of away fans were drinking – in the early hours of Wednesday morning (May 4).
According to witnesses, around 15-20 people – who were wearing face coverings – got out of the vans before entering the pub and attacking the West Ham fans in there. The attackers then got back into the vehicles and left the scene.
Police have since confirmed that one fan was injured in the incident, and stated that they were unable to locate the vans – with one of them possessing a local number plate.
“The injured guest, a 34-year-old man from Britain, was taken to hospital for medical treatment,” Frankfurt police said in a statement.

Strong West Ham contingent in Germany
The Hammers are excepted to have 2,600 fans inside Deutsche Bank Park for Thursday night’s Europa League semi-final second leg tie, with several others expected to travel and watch the game in the city.
A number of West Ham fans were previously targeted by a set of Frankfurt ultras ahead of their last-16 tie with Sevilla in March, with Eintracht having played the night before at nearby Real Betis.
Commentators ‘attacked’ during first leg
During the first leg at the London Stadium, which the Bundesliga outfit won 2-1, two visiting commentators were ‘attacked’ by West Ham fans.
