The boxer collapsed to the mat as he came out for the third round

Unbeaten boxer Musa Yamak has died at the age of 38, after collapsing in the ring during a fight.

The Turkish fighter, who only turned professional in 2017, is believed to have suffered a heart attack ahead of the third round in his clash with Hamza Wandera in Munich on Saturday.

Germany-based Yamak boasted an undefeated 8-0 record, with all of his wins coming by knockout.

“We lost our compatriot Musa Askan Yamak, a boxer from Alucra, who won European and Asian championships, at a young age after a heart attack,” Hasan Turan, member of the National Assembly of Turkey, wrote on Twitter.

Yamak, who won the WBFed international title last year, is said to have been wobbled after taking a big hit from Wandera in the second round.

After the bell rang, both fighters returned to their corner, before standing up for the third round.

It was then that Yamak stumbled before collapsing on the mat.

Medics rushed into the ring to provide him with first aid and revive him.

Yamak was rushed to hospital but was later pronounced dead of a heart attack.

A spokesman for the Munich police told BILD: “The paramedics saw turbulent scenes of emotionally charged fans and family members on site.

“To ensure the safety of the paramedics, we sent out a lot of patrols. “We then set up a protection corridor on-site so that the paramedics could work safely and conscientiously.”
