Things aren’t going to plan at PSG

Lionel Messi and Neymar were booed by Paris Saint-Germain supporters during the side’s Ligue 1 clash with Bordeaux on Sunday.

It comes after the Parisians exited the Champions League in midweek at the hands of Real Madrid, with Karim Benzema scoring a second-half hat-trick – with his last two goals coming within seconds of each other – as the LaLiga side overturned a 1-0 first leg deficit to progress to the quarterfinals.

The French giants’ fans are understandably angry with the defeat to Madrid, especially considering that Mauricio Pochettino’s side had taken the lead in the second-leg tie through Kylian Mbappe.

Now, supporters have opted to direct their anger at two of PSG’s star players – Messi and Neymar.

During the Parisians’ Ligue 1 clash against Bordeaux – the first fixture since the Champions League exit – both Messi and Neymar were consistently booed by home fans whenever they touched the ball.

Neymar has scored 91 goals and grabbed 57 assists in 135 appearances for the French giants, while Messi – who arrived at at Le Parc des Princes in the summer from Barcelona – has registered seven goals and 11 assists in 25 matches.

At the time of writing, PSG lead Bordeaux courtesy of Mbappe’s 24th minute strike.
