Maguire is one of three players who could be used in a swap deal for De Jong
Harry Maguire has been linked with a move to Barcelona this summer as Manchester United reportedly eye a swap deal for Frenkie de Jong.
Incoming United manager Erik ten Hag is known to be a big admirer of De Jong, who starred in the brilliant young Ajax side he led to a Champions League semi-final in 2019.

Barcelona believe United could offer Maguire or Rashford
According to Gerard Romero, Ten Hag is keen on a reunion with the midfielder at Old Trafford. Speaking on his Twitch channel, the journalist said Barcelona believe United could attempt a swap deal to help close the deal.
Maguire has endured a difficult season at Old Trafford (who hasn’t?), with his performances in defence coming under intense scrutiny. The England international could, therefore, be used as a makeweight in a United move for De Jong.
Marcus Rashford is another player Barca believe United could put forward for a possible transfer having also struggled to find form over the course of the season.
Full-back Alex Telles and young forward Anthony Elanga have also been suggested, with Barca also said to be interested in Scott McTominay.
Ten Hag planning squad overhaul
Maguire joined United three years ago from Leicester City in a deal worth £80m. Despite impressing for England at Euro 2020 last summer, he has had a difficult season for his club, who will end the season without a trophy and are all but mathematically out of contention for a Champions League place.
Ten Hag was named as United’s next manager earlier this month. It is expected the club will embark on a major overhaul of its first team squad before the season begins.
