I mean, fair enough

If you fart at work and you can’t disguise it, own up and apologise. And maybe re-evaluate your diet. That is a simple rule to live by to ensure you do not alienate the people around you by being gross. This shouldn’t need saying.

One footballer who does not live by this rule – quite the opposite in fact – is former Lyon defender Marcelo.

The Brazilian, who now plays for Bordeaux, played poorly Lyon’s first two games of the season before the incident occurred that led to him being banished from the first team back in August for what the club described as ‘inappropriate behaviour’.

French sports paper L’Equipe, via GFFN, are now reporting that the inappropriate behaviour was in fact farting, and laughing about it, in the dressing room after a game.

Sporting director and free kick maestro Juninho Pernambucano was reportedly livid with the player, and decided with manager Peter Bosz to terminate his contract in January after the player had spent a few months in the reserve team.

The 34-year-old played for Lyon for four and half years and was part of the team that reached the Champions League semi-finals in the Covid-hit 19/20 season, when the were knocked out by eventual champions Bayern Munich.
