Liverpool fans have claimed that Southampton’s goal should have been disallowed for a foul on Diogo Jota in the build up to Nathan Redmond’s opener on Tuesday night.
In a crucial game for Jurgen Klopp’s side’s title aspirations, a much-changed Reds team went behind as Redmond’s deflected effort put the hosts in front.

Liverpool fan reaction
But Liverpool fans were left seething after Saints defender Lyanco was spotted fouling Liverpool striker Jota in the attacking phase of play.
Despite the obvious foul, there was no VAR check and the goal stood. Thankfully, for Liverpool’s sake they soon found themselves level courtesy of Takumi Minamino’s fierce effort, but a point would all-but hand Manchester City the title.

Premier League permutations
Liverpool know that a win is vital if they want to remain within hope of winning a second Premier League title in three years.
The Reds sat four points behind league leaders Man City at the start of play and know that three points at St Mary’s Stadium would leave them a point behind Pep Guardiola’s side, giving them a chance of winning the league on the final day.
Should they leave the South Coast with a solitary point, Klopp’s side will have to hope that Aston Villa can secure an unlikely win at the Etihad Stadium, while Liverpool would need to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers by seven goals to lift the title.
However defeat against Southampton would clinch the title for Man City with a game to spare.
