The straight-talking PT doesn’t tolerate BS of any form
A personal trainer went full Liam Neeson in Taken after an internet troll tried to fat shame him online.
James Smith is the British-born fitness expert who has garnered a massive following on TikTok and Instagram in recent years thanks to his comprehensive and no-nonsense approach to exercise, diet and gym culture.
The 33-year-old who is regularly based in Bondi, Australia these days is renowned for breaking down the over-complicated and snobby side of training into simpler terms for his audience and regularly calling people out on their BS. He’s no different with his commenters.
As you can see in the clip below, after someone attempted to troll him and suggest he was “getting fat” and busy spending money as opposed to checking his “macros” (macronutrients), Smith decided to track him down and call him up.

He changed his tune quickly, didn’t he?
As you can see in the short clip, Smith managed to find the troll known only as Adrian’s number and ask him why he left a nasty comment on one of his posts. Put on the spot, the keyboard warrior quickly finds himself apologising and say’s he’s “honour to get a call” from him.
Following up on the initial response, the PT says, “I just wanted to know what’s up bro? What seems to be the issue here?”
Unsurprisingly, the commenter says he was “just taking the piss and didn’t mean to offend you at all”, at which point Smith reveals he knows he is also a trainer and questions why a remark like that is “needed”.
Adrian then continues to backstep and apologise profusely, confessing that he was just using him for “gratuitous entertainment” before adding that he “actually respects [his] content” and thinks he talks “a lot of sense”.
Clearly taken aback by the impromptu call and embarrassed by his own immature attempt at teasing someone else in the same industry, not to mention over their weight, he simply thanks him for the call as James says “have a good day”. The perfect combo of matter of fact of meets kill ’em with kindness.
We spoke to James a couple of years back about calling out the bullsh*t of so-called fitness influencers. He hasn’t stopped since.
“Some of them have had surgery – and then they stand next to a weight loss drink. These drinks don’t even work.”
