Video footage showed the fan performing what looked like a Nazi salute

A Burnley fan appears to have been recorded performing a Nazi salute inside the Tottenham Hotspur stadium during his side’s defeat to Spurs on Sunday.

It occurred during Spurs’ win against Burnley on Sunday

Burnley were beaten after a controversial first half penalty from Harry Kane made sure of the three points for Antonio Conte’s side and put them in the driving seat to secure a Champions League place for next season.

Kane’s penalty wasn’t without controversy after it was given following a VAR check as Ashley Barnes appeared to handle Davinson Sanchez’s shot.

Several of the away side’s player and staff protested to referee Kevin Friend, including Phil Bardsley, who was involved in a heated tunnel exchange.

Barnes almost found an equaliser in the second half for Burnley, however his long-range effort cannoned off the post before being cleared away by the Spurs defence.

Mike Jackson’s side meanwhile were dealt a huge blow in their bid for survival and know that if results for Leeds United and Everton go against them, they could find themselves in the bottom three come the final day of the season.

The fan was spotted performing the salute multiple times

But the game was marred by footage inside the ground which appeared to show a fan in the away end directing a Nazi salute towards the home supporters.

The video surfaced on Twitter and can see the supporter clearly performing the salute multiple times towards the home fans inside the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
