‘His counsel are turning from prosecutor to persecutor’
Amber Heard’s legal team have hit back at claims from Johnny Depp’s lawyers that Heard has put on “the performance of her life” while testifying against him in the multi-million-pound defamation case.
Last week, Depp’s lawyers released a statement after days of Heard testifying in court about her relationship with the Pirates of the Caribbean star.
They accused Heard of delivering the “performance of her life,” and said her evidence had “continued to grow new and convenient details.”
Depp’s lawyers argued that his “recollections have remained exactly the same throughout the six painful years since her first allegations were made.”
“His truth – the truth – is the same no matter the environment in which it is has been presented..”

Heard’s team have since hit back at these accusations, saying that Depp’s counsel has turned from “prosecutor to persecutor.”
Their statement reads: “They boast that Mr Depp’s story has not changed. If so, since he lost the Domestic Violence Restraining Order and he resoundingly lost the libel case in the UK, perhaps he should consider a new strategy rather than the recycled approach of attacking the victim, and refusing to take responsibility for his own conduct.”
Heard’s team claimed that Depp has an “inability to distinguish fact from fiction – a malady which appears to have spread to his legal team”. They also slammed him for his behaviour during the trial.

The trial has concluded for a week’s recess and jurors have been warned not to look at any social media during the break to ensure their opinions aren’t influenced.
Depp is currently suing his former wife Heard for defamation over a Washington Post op-ed she wrote in 2018 in which she discussed the subject of domestic abuse.
Depp’s team argue that the piece falsely implies that Heard was physically and sexually abused by Depp while they were married from 2015 to 2017. He is seeking $50m in damages.
Heard is in turn suing her former husband, accusing him of orchestrating a “smear campaign” against her and labelling his lawsuit as a continuation of “abuse and harassment.”
She has asked for immunity from Depp’s complaint, and $100m in damages.
